Amendment

 

An amendment is an alteration or a proposed alteration to the language of a statement, document, bill, or law by the addition, deletion, or substitution of language.  

Amending Legislation: Any change or proposed change made to original or current text of legislation, after it has been submitted, is considered an amendment.

Amending Current Law: A bill is a proposed amendment to the current law.

Example:

The text with the line through it is text from the current law being deleted.

The text that is highlighted is the text that is being added to the current law.
