Causation

 

Causation is a proven cause and effect relationship between two or more things where one thing is proven to directly cause another.

 

Example:

 

After testing the contaminated drinking water, which was found to contain high levels of the solvent trichloroethylene (TCE), it was determined that the contaminated water was the direct cause of the small outbreak of leukemia.
