Field Director, Democratic Primary, NYC

We are seeking qualified individuals to fill the role of Field Director (FD) for campaigns in the

New York City Area. The FD will work with Organizers and senior campaign staff to develop,

implement and execute petition and direct contact field programs. A successful candidate will

be a self starter possessing a breadth of experience across all aspects of organizing political

campaigns, demonstrated leadership abilities, excellent communications skills, admin level

knowledge of Votebuilder/VAN software, and knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets.

Applicants who live locally to the campaign or have access to their own vehicle will be given

preference.

 

Responsibilities

  • Creation of canvass proposals and plans

  • Recruitment, hiring, and training of Canvassers and Field Organizers

  • Tracking and submission of payroll and employee paperwork

  • Leading quality control checks on all staff daily

  • Tracking and assessment of the program and recommending methods to improve

  • contact quality

  • Micro targeting likely voters through research of demographics, income, and local issues

  • Regular communication with campaign leadership and submission of daily reports

  • Fulfilling other duties as required

Requirements

  • At least two but preferred three campaign seasons with organizing or management

  • experience.

  • Absolute confidentiality with regards to all aspects of the campaign

  • The ability to comprehend messaging for and articulate issues relating to the campaign

  • Demonstrated admin level knowledge of NGP VAN software suites

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use office software like Excel, Word, Google

  • Sheets and file sharing services like Onedrive or Dropbox.

  • Familiarity with New York State ballot access procedure

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • The ability to lead and develop staff

  • Availability to work all weekends and Fridays

  • The ability to communicate electronically at all times while working.

Compensation - Negotiable depending on experience

    The Office of U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) seeks an experienced, creative and highly motivated Communications Director to lead media and outreach efforts in her Washington, D.C. and Seattle, WA offices. An ideal candidate will: Work collaboratively with the Congresswoman and her senior leadership team; Possess strong written and oral communications skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting under tight deadlines; Understand the digital media landscape and current digital trends, with experience overseeing a digital/social media program; Think strategically and creatively; Have a strong record of advocating for progressive values; Be willing to work weekends and irregular hours. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Congresswoman; Develop strong relationships with local and national reporters, editors, producers, bookers, and social media influencers; Proactively engage in media outreach, including pitching and fielding press inquiries; Manage the development of press releases, speeches and op-eds; Oversee a robust and aggressive online communications program; Supervise a Press Secretary and Digital Specialist; Prepare and staff the Congresswoman for district press events and media interviews; and Work collaboratively with the District Office to ensure a strong local/state media presence.
