Redistribution of Wealth

 

The term Redistribution of Wealth refers to the forced taking of income and wealth from some individuals and giving it to other individuals through violent revolutionary action or through legal mechanisms such as taxation or judicial proceedings where the police power of the state is used to facilitate the taking of wealth. (see Socialism and Communism).

 

The most common usage of the term Redistribution of Wealth is in reference to the taking of income and wealth from some individuals through taxation and redistributing that accumulated tax revenue to other individuals through welfare or other government subsidy programs.
