Convene
To Convene is to formally open (begin) a legislative day or meeting.
Example:
President: (Bangs Gavel) “I call this meeting to order. Will the Secretary please call the roll. Those present will signify by saying aye.”
Secretary: Calls each member by name.
Members: Respond by saying aye
President: “Mr. Secretary, do we have a quorum?”
Secretary: “You have a quorum, Mr. President.”
President: “Having established that a quorum is present…”
