Ideology

 

An ideology is a set of beliefs and ideals. There are a number of different forms of ideologies, however, in politics, the term ideology is usually used in reference to political (forms of government, political parties, policy, methods of governing) or economic ideologies (command or planned economy, mixed economy, market economy).

 

Examples:

 

The ideologies of Socialism and Communism are based on the premise that a command or planned economy will produce the best results. The ideology of market economics is based on the belief that the free market based on the natural evolution of supply and demand will produce the strongest economy.
