Philosophy

The term philosophy is used in two basic ways:

1. Philosophy is the academic study of the fundamental truths and nature of life, human existence, reality, knowledge, behavior, etc

2. A philosophy is a system of thought and principles developed from a philosophical study.

Example:

John studied philosophy in school and after years of study had developed his own philosophy of life.
