Merkley, Ranking Member on the East Asia, the Pacific, and International Cybersecurity Policy Subcommittee of the Committee on Foreign Relations, seeks a Legislative Correspondent to assist with foreign policy and national security matters, including on North Korea, China, nuclear nonproliferation, arms control, human rights, and related appropriations, among other issues. The ideal candidate will have excellent research, writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced office. Candidates should be detail oriented self-starters. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing mail processes and drafting responses to constituent letters, drafting foreign policy and national security-related memoranda, tracking legislation, and meeting with constituents and other stakeholders. Hill experience preferred. Anticipated start date is December 2018.
